The student logs in to their first Ontario course from home, at a pace that fits their week.
Tuition per credit.
Every course is priced per credit, so families pay only for the courses in the student's plan.
Scholarships.
Students who reach benchmark grades can receive a scholarship of up to 20% on each credit. That brings an international credit from $849 to as little as $679.20, and a domestic credit from $699 to as little as $559.20.
Admissions confirms the benchmark that applies and the scholarship amount for each student as part of the course plan.
Credits you already have.
Students rarely start from zero. The principal can grant equivalent credits for studies completed at schools outside Ontario, so a student joining in Grade 11 or 12 does not repeat what they have already passed.
What to send
- Report cards or transcripts for each completed grade
- The name of the curriculum or board, such as CBSE, ICSE, a state board, British or American
- English translations of any documents in another language
We assess the documents and show you how many of the 30 credits are already complete before you commit to a plan.

Common questions.
Something else on your mind? Ask it in the application form and admissions will answer it with your course plan.
Do universities outside Canada accept the OSSD?
Universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and many other countries admit students with the OSSD. Each university sets its own requirements, so we check them against every student's list of target universities.
Can the OSSD be used for university in India?
Some Indian universities accept the OSSD directly. Others ask for an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, which has its own rules for diplomas earned online. Families planning university in India should confirm with the university before enrolling, and admissions can help with that conversation.
Can a student take a single course?
Yes. Many students take one or two Grade 12 U courses to strengthen a university application. Tuition is charged per credit, so one course costs one credit's tuition.
How do scholarships work?
Students who reach benchmark grades can receive up to 20% off each credit. Admissions confirms the benchmark and the amount for each student in their course plan.
What is the literacy requirement?
Every OSSD student must show they meet Ontario's literacy standard. Most do this by passing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, usually in Grade 10. Students who are not successful can complete the OLC4O literacy course instead.
How are the 40 community hours completed abroad?
Students volunteer in their own community, for example at a school, a charity or a community event. The principal approves the activities, and the hours are recorded toward the diploma.
Which language are courses taught in?
English. Students who are still developing their English can take ESL courses from Level 1 to Level 5 alongside their other subjects.
